Farmhouse renovated with the addition of a stable. Minimalist design combines with archaic materials

The old farmhouse, located in the region of Vallès, in Catalonia was renovated thanks to the construction of a stable connected to the property by a large anthracite grey metal pergola that frames the front and back of the house

The starting point for the new renovation was an austere three-storey building that is connected to the new structure by a metal pergola. The same minimalist design of the exteriors can be found in the interiors

In the interior, the different archaic shades are unified by a white glaze, which is applied to both the ceiling and the walls. Each floor is divided into three parts, a central part and two lateral parts

The structure of the vaulted staircase is modified and given a much more contemporary appearance, through the use of wood and ceramic profiles. Next to the staircase, a storage wall is created, whose height makes it possible to visually separate the dining table from the outside

Thanks to the combined use of openings, doors, in the interior spaces the natural light of the windows enters with a poetic intersection of lights and shadows. Much of the lighting is based on indirect light, making light a tool for exploring the space

In the rooms, the same oak wood is used for the floor, using the masonry as the background. The kitchen is minimal and the module of refrigerator, cupboards, oven, separates the kitchen from the dining area: a small space where the table is the protagonist

To mark the new boundary between inside and outside, the arches of the house have been delimited by metal and glass structures. The pergola at the back serves as a summer area, reinforcing the link between the house and the garden
