Lutheran Church in the centre of Seattle. Handcrafted glass windows characterize the 1950s building

The lavish and complex project by architect Olson Kundig further underlines the significant presence of the Lutheran Church of Gethsemane in the centre of Seattle, which has been renovated and enhanced by handcrafted glass with warm hues

The existing building, dating back to the 50s, as well as being renovated, is integrated with other functions, such as housing and social services. In addition to the exterior of the building and the main sanctuary, the chapel, the garden and the Parish Life Center have also been designed.

Coloured metal and glass bands characterise the building. Up close, the chapel's handcrafted glass windows with warm tones project an intimate light onto the street. The transparent glass mosaic of the chapel is coloured and translucent, creating a beacon of light. A small meditation garden borders the chapel and the hall.
