Holiday home in Sweden

Summer house in a Swedish bay. Renovation of a cabin dating back to the '50s

The existing house, dating back to the mid-twentieth century situated in a bay with a lively atmosphere on a slope between the forest and the sea is reworked by the architect Tina Bergman, who makes the house accessible in all seasons

The house should be open to the panoramic view of the bay and the forest according to the customers' request

In addition, the house would have to ensure the privacy of several family members during long stays, as well as common spaces

The new house looks like a long and narrow volume with sloping roof and closed gables, which extends over the site

Thanks to its shape, many rooms overlook the sea

The building "sits" on an existing stone wall, which creates a natural terrace overlooking the scenery

On the side of the forest, the architect creates a space for outdoor work and interaction

The central living space is open and the bedrooms are located at both ends, so as to minimize the spaces intended for circulation

The result is to have a bigger perception of the house than it really is, a perception emphasized by the central fireplace that divides the dining room from the living room

For shape and materiality, the building uses the local building style as a reference. The structure is entirely made of wood, with reinforced concrete foundations
