House with parquet and white walls

White stone walls and wooden structure. From a former local bakery to a residential building

João's House is a renovation project in the old town of Porto di Guilherme Machado Vaz, which transforms a former bakery into a two-storey house, where the ground floor contains private social spaces and the upper floor

The bakery that once served the local population and especially fishermen, dating back to the 19th century is now a home located in the town of Porto, near the Douro river. The house is spread over two floors and in the intermediate level there is a small room with the client's musical studio

The ground floor encloses the social spaces, a living room and a kitchen, divided by a bookcase-credit cabinet that does not create a visual division, but only a physical one. The kitchen extends out into the open, as if to participate in the social life of the neighborhood during domestic activities

The space is more intimate than the kitchen, illuminated by a skylight that reflects the light in the various wall textures, offering different types of white. The upper floor includes two rooms and a bathroom, with two separate entrance doors
